In commemoration of the 2022 Gender Equality Week, SFWF conducted various programs to expand SFWF’s progress and raise awareness on gender equality. In line with SMG’s main project ‘Mom and Dad Happiness Project’, the theme of this Gender Equality Week was to raise awareness on gender equal care work and explore best practices on work-care(life) balance.
Since 2015, under Framework Act on Gender Equality, first week of every September has been designated as Gender Equality Week. It consists of various programs and events to promote and raise awareness on gender equality in all areas of politics, economy, society, and culture.
Here are major programs that took place this year during Gender Equality Week.


Gender Equality Library "Here" prepared a concert and movie screening as an opportunity for citizens to enjoy culture after prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
Films submitted to the Seoul International Women's Film Festival were screened for everyone from children to adults to enjoy. Moreover, classical music with commentary helped citizens enjoy the music with more deeply.


From capturing the parenting scene of new parents to sharing the know-how and tips of expert caregivers! Citizens of Seoul submitted a total of 299 photos to share a glimpse into their lives as parents.
After a fierce competition, a total of 10 people won awards. The awarded photos were displayed at SFWF.

SFWF carried out "MindJobGo Project" to provide mental health support for Seoul Citizens in regards to work-life balance and recovery from COVID-19. The exhibition introduced the project and presented various contents to help diagnose problems that people can experience at workplace, such as burnout, workplace relationship conflicts, and anxiety. Online and offline workshop progrmas were also provided to help with mental health problems. You can check out the project through the link below.


Seoul Metropolitan Government has been raising gender equality fund to promote gender equality and implement relevant policies, in cooperation with civil society organizations. During this Gender Equality Week, SFWF prepared an exhibition to introduce the history of the fund and share the progress. Exhibition introduced the history of the gender equality fund for the past 10 years and introduced the events and projects of 2022 under three themes: 'Introduction and chronology of the fund', 'Recent issues and current activities', and 'Map of participating organizations in 2022'.


Through the photo contest, a total of 10 teams were awarded in the categories of ‘Parenting Beginners’ and ‘Expert Parents’. Winners and nominees attended the ceremony to celebrate and promise to work with SFWF in the future to ensure gender equal participation in parenting and caregiving.


After the award ceremony, SFWF held a talk concert discussed different experiences in defining what it means to be a parent/caregiver and finding work-life balance. At the talk concert, a panel of seoul citizen represnetatives and parenting experts shared their concerns, problem-solving tips, and solutions on parenting and balancing work and family. The forum shared best practices of polices around the world after COVID-19, which include Seoul’s mental health care policy, UK Fatherhood Institute’s male parent participation improvement case, Canada CCPA’s child care allowance policy and presentations by the Embassy of Germany and Switzerland.
